Ranger

The Ranger class is pretty simple, you use a bow or gun or any other ranger weapon that uses ammo. Defense is not good in this class, because it's mainly about keeping your distance and dealing damage from far away. Most people play this class because it's easy to use, simple, and you can start right away, Plus people like the safety of not being close to enemies. Ammo in this class is mainly arrows and bullets, but some other weapons use special ammo, like gel. The armor in this class mainly focuses on giving a chance to not use ammo, or deal more damage. The accessories in this class mainly allow you to have a chance to not consume ammo, to turn projectiles, and to make them stronger. or anything else like that. By the time you are in hard mode, you need to choose between a certain weapon, because some armor only benefits a certain weapon, like bows or guns. You also need to have a good aim and be precise, since you do need to aim.

Armor

Armor in this class doesn't have a theme, but it's still good. certain armors have an ability or set bonus, like stealth mode that gives you more damage at the cost of not moving, or a chance to not consume ammo. here are some examples.

This is Vortex Armor, the best ranger armor set in the game. It has low defense since it's the ranger class, but grants a stealth ability that makes you invisible but lowers movement speed when you activate it. This armor benefits all weapons and is good, it does give basic buffs too, like increased damage, movement, a chance not to consume ammo, and all that.

This is Shroomite Armor, a bit more of a complicated armor set because it has 3 different helmets that benefit different weapon types: Bows, Guns, or Rocket Launchers. The armor has an ability that makes you invisible if you stand still and gives you a "strike" that deals more damage at the cost of not moving. Nobody uses this ability since it's not practical at all.

Weapons

The weapons are pretty basic, you have bows, guns, launchers, repeaters, and anything throwing or shooting related. As expected, you need ammo for the weapons to work, you have arrows, bullets, rockets, and some other material that is considered ammo, like gel for flamethrowers. This class has a lot of consumables that have a limit. In pre-mode, it's simple and easy, and when you get too hard mode, it's honestly easier, since you unlock a lot of crazy ammo that has insane abilities. Here are some examples of each type of weapon.

Bows

This is the Phantasm, a pretty good bow that can be made before moon lord. This bow shoots out multiply arrows and shoots extra arrows if you hit a target. Most bows only shoot out one arrow, but this one fires multiple. Using different arrows can result in different damage and power.

Guns

This is the S.D.M.G, a really good gun. Guns are really common in this game, you shoot out bullets, and they hit a target. There are many bullets with different abilities like to give enemies a debuff, or to home on enemies, or something like that. Guns themselves don't have "abilities" though, each one just shoots bullets faster than the other one or deals more damage at the cost of a slower firing rate.

Launchers

Here is the Celebration Mk2, a launcher. Nobody uses launchers since they are hard to get, and the ammo is only available after a certain point, and it's not exactly something anyone uses. It can be good against some things, but nobody uses these weapons. These weapons are only good in events mainly since they can hit a lot of enemies at once.

Grenades

These are Grenades, very simple, you throw it and it explodes on enemy impact. It may not seem like it but grenades are pretty good and are considered a ranger weapon that deals a lot of damage. It works as a part-time weapon for everyone since it's so good. Grenades can be expensive though and only be bought and found in chests, they are also considered as consumables. Grenades are very good at events, but be careful not to blow yourself up.

Repeaters

This right here is the stake launcher, a repeater. Repeaters are pretty much just bows that fire one arrow but faster. They are still good and used by some people, but since repeaters are only available in early hard mode, it's not something that people use in the endgame. Repeaters do use arrows, and this one uses stakes that is a special ammo.

Conclusion

That's what you need to know about the Ranger class, there is a bit more to this class like accessories, that isn't on here. The ranger class is played by a lot of people because of its easiness and how it's playable from the very beginning. People also play it due to the ammo, since a lot of ammo in this game can do crazy things that make things easier. People normally don't know much about terraria, or just don't like being near bosses and enemies, and always play this class. This class isn't bad and has always been a big one in Terraria since it was first made. If you wanna play this class, all you have to do is not get hit and have good aim, unless you use homing chlorapyte bullets.
